National event on Chemical Leasing held on April 24
Chemical leasing, cleaner production
Jointly organized by National Cleaner Production Centre of Serbia, UNIDO, Serbian Chemical Society, Serbian Chamber of Commerce, with support of Ministry of environment and spatial planning of Serbia and ENERGOPROJEKT company, national event on Chemical Leasing was held on April 24, in the premises of ENERGOPROJEKT on Novi Beograd.
Mrs. Rađenović from the Ministry of environment and spatial planning talked about new environmental laws that are being adopted by the Serbian parliament right now, and also about the place of Chemical Leasing business model in SAICM project in Serbia
Dr Ilija Brčeski, professor on the Faculty of Chemistry of Belgrade, gave very sobering picture about real situation on the ground regarding menagement of chemicals in Serbia.
Mrs. Petra Schwager from UNIDO spoke about international activities on Chemical Leasing in 7 pilot countries, as well as about next SAICM meeting in Geneva.
Jill Kaufmann Johnson (USA) gave an overview about hidden cost of chemicals. She also shared with audience some experience on Chemical Management Services, the way some of the most important companies in the USA manage chemicals.
Reinhard Joas, (BiPRO, Germany) who works for German governemn and UNIDO on Chemical Leasing model, explained why German government is supporting Chemical Leasing. The main reason is the wish to help countries in transition to decrease consumption of chemicals, but increasing their competitivness in the same time.
Alexander Startzev, from Russian NCPC spoke about their experience in application of the Chemical Leasing model in water treatment in St. Petersburg, as well as about the new nano-technology based equipment for treatment of polluted water.
Radovan Radojević, teritory manager from Food & Beverages Business unit of ECOLAB spoke about the results of Chemical Leasing model in their cooperation with Carlsberg Serbia.
Finally, Vojislavka Šatrić, national coordinator for Chemical Leasing in the Cleaner Production Centre of Serbia gave an insight in future project involving as partners ECOLAB and KNJZ MILOŠ, mineral water bottling company from Arandjelovac, Serbia.
Chemical Leasing is a service-oriented business model that shifts the focus from increasing sales volume of chemicals towards a value-added approach.
